The Challenge

Crucial customer data, the lifeblood of Kotak Securities' daily operations, wasn’t flowing. While their primary data was safely stored in a secure on-premise database, getting it quickly to the teams who needed it most was a slow and cumbersome process.
Marketing and customer support teams relied on essential tools like Salesforce for CRM and CleverTap for marketing automation, which need fresh and accurate customer data to deliver good results.
However, the process was entirely manual: a technical team had to manually export data from the database into large CSV files, which were then, also manually, uploaded to Salesforce, CleverTap, and other platforms.
This entire process, from request to final upload, took ~4 days, which created significant business challenges and revenue loss:

Stale Marketing

Marketing ran on weeks-old data. A customer might show interest in mutual funds today, but the campaign targeting them wouldn't go out until next week. By then, they'd already invested elsewhere. Timing is everything in securities, and they were always a step behind.

Frustrating Customer Support

Support agents worked blindly. A customer could call about a trade they executed that morning, and the agent wouldn't see it in Salesforce. They'd waste time asking questions the system should have already answered, eroding customer trust with every call.

Inefficient and Brittle Technology

Under the hood, their data pipelines were stitched together with AWS Glue Jobs’ drag-and-drop builder. These fed into a Microsoft SQL Server database, a proprietary engine with ongoing licensing costs and clunky integration. With roughly 30 data scripts and no central logic, everything was duplicated, fragile, and expensive to run.

The Solution

Understanding the core business need for speed, reliability, and agility, we designed and built a bespoke ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipeline to fully automate Kotak Securities' data flow.
We built the new system alongside the old, validated in parallel, and integrated it incrementally. All with zero downtime.
1. We re-engineered the core with high-performance code.

The inefficient drag-and-drop AWS Glue scripts were completely replaced with clean and reusable Python code. We also migrated the workload from the Microsoft SQL Server database to Amazon RDS with an open-source engine. This eliminated duplication and created a maintainable, high-performance data processing engine. The new scripts were not only faster but also significantly cheaper to run on AWS (Amazon Web Services).
2. We built an intelligent delivery system.

Once the data is processed, it is shared in two places simultaneously: a database for storage and a smart queue. A dedicated Node.js service acts as a "traffic controller," reading data from this queue and delivering it to the third-party tools. This service intelligently manages the different API rate limits of each tool (like Salesforce and CleverTap), ensuring data flows are as fast as possible without overwhelming the destination systems.
3. We designed for effortless agility.
