The Result:
Before working with us, James Dickerson, Boring Marketing’s CEO, was on the lookout for a partner he could trust without needing to micromanage. His goal was to spend his time and energy where it mattered most, which are the four essentials we encourage all founders to focus on: fundraising, marketing, sales, and talking to customers.
Our Launch service gave James the time to keep his ear to the ground. He utilized his time and attention to identify an organic, emerging pattern, which he coined as “Vibe Marketing,” and to establish a community of Vibe Marketers. They were the perfect early adopters of this new SaaS product.
Our team helped him convert his ideas and insights from the community into a digital product, and within just 8 months, we worked through multiple pivots, design iterations, system architecture overhauls, and more.

Who is Boring Marketing?
Boring Marketing began as a service-based marketing agency to help businesses grow with data and strategy. As AI tools exploded in popularity, they quickly realized that the ground beneath them was shifting.
So they faced both a fundamental choice and a massive opportunity: keep investing in “business as usual” or risk reinventing themselves to have a chance to stay ahead and stay afloat.
Listening closely to both their users and to their own instincts, they pivoted, more than once, experimenting, adjusting, and learning along the way with each opportunity that presented itself.
What started as a straightforward agency evolved into a company building AI-powered products that don’t just support clients’ marketing but actively implement the right tactics to advance their business objectives.
Challenge: The Boring Marketing Team Wanted To Work On Two Key Objectives.
One, they were having a bit of trouble finding a partner who could execute against objectives without needing to be micromanaged. They had, unfortunately, had a less-than-stellar experience working with another agency and were reluctant to invest a lot from the start.
And two, they wanted a partner who could specifically strategise for, design and build SaaS (Software as a Service) products.
Solution: Automated Keyword Research (AKR)
To win trust and showcase our product thinking skills, we kicked off with two Sprint ZerosTM: one for SEO and one for ads. We then decided to double down on SEO, as most of Boring Marketing’s customers were buying their SEO services. This gave us access to more data that we could use to benchmark our results.

Sprint ZeroTM gave us a Product Roadmap, which helped us decide that the product we build needs to first fulfill the needs of internal users.
Each Boring Marketing SEO engagement began with a 15-day SEO Sprint, which concluded with a blueprint on how to improve the ranking. Sprinters had to manually dig through tools like AHREFS, combing through hundreds of keywords, analyzing search volume and traffic potential, and narrowing down what could work best .
We started with addressing the key problem: time. How could we reduce the 15 days to under 5 minutes? We achieved this by working closely with their team to design and build the Automated Keyword Research (AKR) tool.
It automated the sprinters’ work, now done in mere minutes with an accuracy of 98.5%! The tool’s user experience was designed to enable any marketer outside the Boring Marketing ecosystem to use it, hence fulfilling their SaaS requirements.
Challenge:
Digital Interaction Changed Fundamentally With AI
Tools like ChatGPT, Claude and other copilots were becoming the mainstream.
Marketers were now looking for AI tools to help them automate the entire process. Founders were looking for AI assistants. And competitors were already starting to build these.
Pivot: Agentic AI Kanban
AKR produced amazing results and defined the blueprint for improving organic rankings. During this period, we witnessed significant advancements in AI. Together with the Boring Marketing team, we realised that there was a potent gap in the market for an AI-powered Digital Marketing Assistant.
We swiftly switched gears, proving once again that we have the in-built flexibility to pivot quickly to accommodate an entirely new direction. The horizon opened up for us to scale up the AKR tool, reaching more people and companies who could benefit from it.
We developed a Multi-Agent System with specialized agents, including Max, Growth Agent, Anna, SEO Agent, and others, all managed by a Supervisor Agent. Together, they would conduct specific and thorough analysis for a brand, and propose a plan of work to grow both organic and inorganic traffic to a website.
These AI agents would fill up a Kanban-style board with tasks that teams could share internally for colleagues to pick up assignments. Some tasks would be performed automatically by the agents themselves.
Customers now had marketing experts available 24/7 who could complete tasks that once took 6 months in just 5 minutes.
Challenge: The Product Felt “Like Old SaaS” And “Not Agentic Enough”.
The new wave of SaaS tools was leaning towards conversational chat-based experiences over traditional dashboards. Boring Marketer’s customers weren’t looking for yet another task manager.
Pivot: A 360° AI Marketing Copilot
We were happy with the progress, yet also open to constructive feedback from users. We conducted in-person demos to make sure we thoroughly understood what customers valued the most. We wanted to make sure we could further refine the product in line with their needs.
What Boring Marketer’s customers really wanted was a product that could understand their business objectives, study what was working for competitors in their niche, and then chart a differentiated path forward based on their goals. They wanted a 360° AI marketing copilot that could interpret their strategy and help them carve out a unique position to win.
To make that vision a reality, we transitioned the product from a Kanban board to a chat-first experience. Now, anyone can simply talk to the Boring Marketer Agent (backed by a multi-agent system orchestrated through CrewAI) and generate highly customized content designed to move them closer to their goals.
Behind the scenes, it’s a symphony of specialists that identify the best strategies and actions. For example, the Brand Analysis Agent scrapes websites and social channels to create a detailed, reusable analysis of what a business does and how it shows up in the market. Other agents handle different functions: conversing with customers, spotting market trends, or generating content.
